World Water Organization

Water care is a fundamental issue for global interests. It is estimated that at least 2.2 billion people in the world lack access to this vital resource. For this reason, the United Nations launched among its Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. The United Nations Development Program estimates that by 2050, at least one in four people will be affected by recurrent drinking water shortages. This will be reflected in increased droughts and water stress for the countries. To curb this negative impact, the Clean Water and Sanitation goal seeks universal access to safe and affordable drinking water for vulnerable populations by 2030. To achieve this, countries will need to invest in infrastructure, sanitation facilities and promotion of hygienic practices in their territories.

The World Water Organization

The World Water Council emerged in 1996 in Stockholm, Sweden, as a measure to be a favorable actor in the global water condition. It is currently based in Marseille, France. Its mission is to promote awareness and create impact on countries’ policies to facilitate the efficient use of water and water availability in the world. It seeks to be a key entity in improving water access and management conditions globally.

The council obtains funding through contributions from governments, international organizations and donors around the world. It is responsible for organizing world forums where water-related issues are discussed. In addition, it communicates with governments to review the water issue on government agendas, to explore the issue of water security in depth and to strengthen water-related issues in international organizations.

If you would like to learn more about this organization, we invite you to visit their website: https://www.worldwatercouncil.org. You can also become a donor to help the water resource reach more families worldwide or you can follow the World Water Forum that this organization organizes regularly. Remember that taking care of the Planet also requires that we raise collective awareness about the management and care of natural resources.

Caring for drinking water and Planet Earth depends on everyone.
